Keena Austin Madamba - Medina
She was there from the very beginning. She modeled for MAKA's first collection and wore a black inabel “bag” skirt with kissing fish motifs and velvet inserts, made in collaboration with Joash Bugaoisan — before the brand had fully found its footing.
She has been our muse for the moments that count ever since. Most recently, she married Rafael Chua Medina and welcomed their son, Kanoa.
Some friendships outlast the work. This is one of them.
We called this the supot — a bag skirt in black inabel with velvet inserts. Joash engineered the construction to minimize waste from the fabric's narrow width. And those red patterns are traditionally called Kissing fish. Keena walked this for the very first Kalgaw, filmed at Balay San Nicolas in the middle of the pandemic.
Keena and husband Rafael during his inaugration as Senior Board Member of the Province of Ilocos Norte. They are both wearing fine piña pieces created by our team.
Congratulations Rafael and Keena!
