Our Team

The MAKA makers are technicians of fashion, trained in precise hand work and expert in handling delicate tropical fabrics. They work closely with weaving communities in Ilocos Norte and Aklan — and their skill is what transforms those materials into finished pieces.

Aian Raquel

The Creative Director of MAKA Collective, working at the intersection of indigenous textile heritage and contemporary fashion. Trained in Exhibition and Experience Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, Aian shapes each collection around the materials — inabel and piña — and the weaving communities who produce them. The work is grounded in place, built on collaboration, and designed to last.

Joash Fabros Bugaoisan

The In-house Designer of MAKA Collective, working where engineering precision meets the living tradition of Philippine dress. Trained as an engineer, Joash found his way into fashion through education — teaching mathematics and dressmaking before deepening his practice with national trainings and studio workshops at Costume Lab of CCP. There he built rigorous grounding in the history and construction of Filipino garments, from traditional forms through the full arc of the terno's evolution. That engineering foundation shows in how he works: technically exacting, historically rooted, and built with care.

Ryan Bobier

The Menswear Lead of MAKA Collective, self-taught and meticulous. Ryan built his expertise through practice, developing into a skilled tailor whose precision extends from structured menswear to the most delicate piña pieces in the collection. The work is careful and exacting.
